A downloadable game for Windows

Disclaimer: We do not own the rights to any SpongeBob IP and have no intention of monetizing the game. This was just a final project for our class and the theme matched quite well and allowed us to find art work easily.

Character Controls: 

  • Go left: A Key
  • Go right: D Key
  • Jump: Spacebar
  • Activate Hamburger power up: E key or click the UI

Rules

  • You Start with 3 lives. 
  • When a player hits or fails an obstacle they will lose a life. 
  • If they grow too big they will explode and lose all remaining lives.

Gameplay

The objective of the game is to collect coins and survive as long as possible while avoiding obstacles and not exploding. The environment speed, player growth rate and frequency of obstacles will increase over time. The UI consists of a high score, pressure gauge showing how close you are to exploding, how many lives you have, and a power up(hamburger) button. 


Mechanics

Shapeshift Wall:

  • Pick up Patrick or Gary before entering a shapeshift wall. The shape should be the same in the wall.

Breakable Wall:

  • Activate hamburger in hand to successfully pass through the breaking walls.

Player Grow/Shrink:

  • Sponge will grow over time but collecting salt pickups will shrink the player. The growth speed acceleration will speed up over time until reaching maximum.

Tree Obstacle:

  • When the Player hits the tree obstacle they will lose one life.


Overview:

Concept

Endlessly running sponge that changes shapes and grows over time. Using the “Brain Wall” Japanese game show and SubwaySurfer as inspiration.

Story

Karen tricks SpongeBob into attempting a world record for the longest steeplechase underwater even though he can't actually win.
